| Way back in 1972 the box office hit movie, ‘The Poseidon Adventure’ was released with the theme song, ‘The Morning After’ performed by Maureen McGovern. This song of hope reached out to people all over the planet who were struggling with broken lives and shattered dreams.
Little did people know, but apparently McGovern’s life was in a shambles. Lawsuits against her, divorce, family members struggling with cancer and the list continues.
We often think that we can be of no value to people or to God when we are struggling and facing tough issues. It’s in times of strife that we can realise the grace of God and His awesome power to lead you to higher heights and deeper understanding. It is a mistake to wait until your circumstances are rosy and everything about you is totally in order before to minister to people because moments of ministering into people’s lives can pass you by as quickly as they presented themselves.
Just think. Jesus faced His greatest time of distress when He uttered those famous words, ‘Father forgive them, for they don’t know what they are doing,’ Luke 23:34. From a human prospective, Jesus faced defeat as He hung on the cross only moments from death. Suffering from the agony of physical pain, the humiliation of the insults hurled at Him and the spiritual weight of carrying the sin of mankind upon His shoulders, He could have asked His Father for some ‘time out’. Instead, His ministry was at it’s most powerful.
Without the cross, there would be no resurrection. Without the resurrection, there would be no transformation. Without transformation, there would be no eternal salvation.
Don’t give up ministering and seeking God’s leading when things are going bad for you. Press in because it might just be at that moment that the Holy Spirit steps in and uses you like never before. ‘I am content with weaknesses, insults, hardships, persecutions, and difficulties for Christ's sake. For when I am weak, then I am strong.’ 2 Corinthians 12:10
God bless you as you seize the moment and allow God’s Spirit to move in your life even when things appear a shambles.
