There is one sure thing in this world that is constant...Change. It’s not that long back that personal computers didn’t exist or the IPOD, Xbox nor the Playstation. I remember in 1975 when the colour TV became popular in Australia. In fact I still remember as a kid when Brisbane still utilised the old steam locomotive as our main form of public transport and we used the old ‘thunderbox’ prior to sewage!
Change is one certainty in life and no matter how difficult it is to deal with it, it is constantly knocking on our door.
Here in Brisbane in one week we were swamped by unseasonal torrential rain and cyclonic winds. The Weather Bureau was caught a little off guard not really prepared for the devastating change in the weather. Forecasts often change by the hour during these unsettled weather events leaving the general public a little confused and sceptical about the Bureau’s accuracy. The last week of August, 2009, while it was still winter, we experienced 35 degree max (around 100 deg F).
There is one other certainty in this life...The constant love of our God.
‘There is no other god like You, O LORD; You forgive the sins of Your people who have survived. You do not stay angry forever, but You take pleasure in showing us Your constant love.’ Micah 7:18
He never changes and His love and character is totally constant. You will never be left wondering when it comes to God’s character. ‘...and be content with what you have, for He has said, "I will never leave you nor forsake you.’ - Hebrews 15:5
When God says He ‘will never’, rest assured, He means it. His Word is yes and amen. He is constant and true to His word and isn’t subject to change due to circumstances.
Praise God we serve a constant, steadfast God who is always there. Technology changes, time changes, preferences change and personalities also change but our God never does!
